How Masir handles your personal data.
In one sentence: Masir keeps your data on your phone. There is no account to create, no server storing your training, no advertising, no tracker, and nothing is ever sold. Only one thing leaves your device: a location rounded to roughly 11 km, sent to a weather service so your paces can be adjusted for heat.
The publisher of the Masir application is the data controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

| Application | Masir — running coaching (iOS) |
Masir asks for no email address, no password and no phone number. There is no Masir account: nothing identifies you to us.
If you explicitly allow it, Masir reads the running workouts already recorded by your iPhone or Apple Watch: date, duration, distance, elevation gain and heart rate. Nothing else is read — no weight, no sleep, no other health data.
Access is requested read-only: Masir never writes to Health. These runs stay on your device, exactly like the ones you enter by hand, and are shared with no one. You can withdraw permission at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices, and erase what was imported from Profile → Forget imported runs.
On your iPhone, and nowhere else.
| Data | Location |
|---|---|
| Profile, goals, training plan, preferences | The app's local storage |
| Runs entered by hand or measured by the app | A local file in the app's folder, kept until you delete them |
| Runs read from Health | A local file, excluded from iCloud backups |
| Next session shown by the widget | Shared container with the widget, on the device |
Masir has no account server. We hold no database containing your training, and we cannot access your data remotely.
To adapt your session paces to heat and humidity, Masir queries Apple's forecast service, WeatherKit (Apple Weather).
Your precise GPS position is not transmitted. Coordinates are rounded to a tenth of a degree before they are sent. This approximate position can still reveal the area where you are.
The request contains neither your name nor a Masir identifier. As with any internet request, Apple also receives your IP address. Apple states that the location is used only to provide the forecast, is not associated with any personally identifiable information, and is never tracked between requests.
Masir never asks for location permission for weather alone. If you have not already granted it for GPS run tracking, the feature simply stays inactive.
Retrieved forecasts are kept in a local file and refreshed at most a few times a day.
Your weight, age, sex and heart rate fall under the special categories of data defined in Article 9 GDPR. Processing them relies on your explicit consent, given by entering them in the application.
This data is used solely to estimate your fitness, compute your pace and heart-rate zones, and personalise your plan. The calculations run on your device. This data is never transmitted, never shared, and never used to train a model.
You may leave it blank: the app works without it, with less accurate estimates.
Masir Plus subscriptions are sold by Apple through the App Store. Payment, billing and renewal are handled by Apple: we never see your payment details. Masir only receives from iOS the single fact of whether a subscription is active. Apple also provides the weather forecasts (see section 3 bis). See Apple's privacy policy.
| Processing | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Generating and adapting the training plan | Performance of a contract — Article 6(1)(b) |
| Health and physical profile data | Explicit consent — Article 9(2)(a) |
| Location during a run | Consent — Article 6(1)(a), revocable in iOS settings |
| Reading runs from Health | Explicit consent — Article 9(2)(a), revocable in iOS settings |
| Subscription management | Performance of a contract — Article 6(1)(b) |
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. It disappears permanently when you delete the application, or when you use Delete my profile in the Profile tab.
Files exported to a watch are written to the app's temporary folder and cleared automatically by iOS.
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability provided by the GDPR:
For any question about your data: axel.kallgren@gmail.com. If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL.
Network exchanges use HTTPS. Your data benefits from iOS storage encryption while your iPhone is locked.
The trade-off of fully local storage deserves to be stated plainly: if you lose your phone without a backup, your Masir data is gone. An encrypted iCloud or iTunes backup restores it; without a backup we have no way of returning it to you, because we never held it.
Masir is not intended for people under 16. We do not knowingly collect data concerning minors under 16.
No data is transferred outside the European Union.
Masir is a training tool, not a medical device. The plans, paces, heart-rate zones and analyses it produces are estimates derived from published physiological models, for information only. They are not medical advice and do not replace consulting a healthcare professional, particularly in case of illness, pain, or a return from injury.
This policy may change alongside the application. Any substantial change will be flagged in the app. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page.
